Jalyn Altemus

Jalyn Altemus is a rising athlete representing Grand Rapids Barbell, bringing both determination and momentum to Michigan Weightlifting. Originally from Arkansas, she made the move to Grand Rapids and found her way into the sport in early 2023 after a brief start in CrossFit—quickly committing to Olympic weightlifting and never looking back. Balancing a demanding career as a hospital medicine Physician Assistant, Jalyn has demonstrated impressive dedication, consistently making time to train and compete.

Her hard work paid off with a standout performance at her first appearance on the national stage at the Arnold, where she delivered a confident and composed showing, going 5 for 6 on her lifts. After successfully navigating a challenging weight cut and last-minute qualification, she proved she belongs among top competitors, marking a major milestone in her young weightlifting career. Known for her focus, resilience, and team-first mindset, Jayln is an exciting athlete to watch as she continues to build strength and represent the west side of Michigan.
